This week's projects at Kickstarter.com - Nov 3 '11Life-size legos The Global Village Construction Set is an open-source, DIY platform that allows for the low-cost fabrication of the tools it takes to build small, modern villages. The machinery is heavy-duty — prototypes thus far include tractors and drill presses — but the mission is high-spirited: to lower the barrier to entry for creating sustainable human settlements, so that anybody has the ability to transform their own environment. Explore this project Sing your heart out The Young@Heart chorus started as a way to joyfully pass the time in an elderly housing project. Thirty years later, this rock group has been the subject of a feature-length documentary and regularly tours the globe performing pop songs to sold-out (and teary-eyed) audiences. The group's members range in age from 73 to 89, and while most of them have never heard of Kickstarter, they're all excited to record their 30th anniversary double album. Explore this project Lights out Aaron and Mike are creating a new video game experience with a catch — there are no graphics. Instead, the game world is built entirely out of sounds that simulate real world locations. Listen carefully to find your way around, and fully immerse yourself in an environment that's all about visualizing without the visuals. And while you're in the dark, beware the monsters!
