cgCoach / Moddler Quarterly Challenge #2 - By Dec 19 '11The voting has finished and we are happy to announce the topic for Moddler Quarterly Challenge #2 is Marine Species.
Please read the following information on how to enter this digital sculpting competition and win $500USD in prizes. Design Brief Seven tenths of the world's surface is covered in water, yet little is known about what lies beneath our little blue planet. From the smallest stream to the deepest depths of the Mariana Trench there are thousands of existing Marine Species out there and many more are being discovered every year. Entrants are required to create a 3d digital model of an 'existing' OR 'undiscovered' marine species. Marine species include everything from crustaceans, reptiles, jelly fish, fish, sea spiders and many more... Here is a list of existing species. Any style is permitted, cartoon, realistic or a stylized variation. Final model must meet the event Guidelines and be suitable for digital printing. Final design doesn't need to include a base, however make sure to consider how it will be printed and if a base will help it's appearance and balance. Prizes The winner of this challenge will receive a digital print of their sculpture to the value of $500USD from Moddler.com, the premier 3d printing company for today's digital entertainment creators. Important Dates Entry Deadline: December 19, 2011 Finalists Announced: December 23, 2011 Public Voting: December 23, 2011 - January 6, 2012 Winner Announced: January 8, 2012 Get Started Before you enter, please take a moment to read the Rules and Guidelines. Once you have done that, simply start a forum thread in the WIP AREA. The idea here is to showcase to the community your progress from day one (no last minute entries accepted). All entries must be original and ONLY created for this event. Make sure to name your thread according to the rules eg: Ocean FangTooth. Your first post must also include a small introduction of your character and any concept art or reference images. Good luck everyone! www.cgcoach.com
