Watch Glen Keane animate

Here's video of Glen Keane conducting a demonstration at Cal Arts a few years ago. It's in three parts and runs around 22 minutes, but well worth the time spent viewing. You really learn a lot from watching him go through the motions of animating an ol' timer trying to get up from his chair.

His method is straight ahead animation. In other words, he animates through the entire action sequentially instead of pose to pose, where the key drawings are created then inbetweened later.

He's a great talent and a marvel to watch as he works.
