Where would we be today without Derk, Stig, Nasty and Barry. The Rutles changed the world, or did they?

A Hard Day's Rut - Ouch! - Tragical History Tour - Sgt Rutter's Dart Club Band - Shabby Road - Let it Rot - all that great music, or was it really?

In this retrospect of the original Rutles retrospect, All You Need Is Cash, Melvin Hall takes a look back at Rutlemania...

I was the fifth Rutles...back when they were the ReRutles but I thought that play on word thing was stupid...they kicked me out just as they were about to get big...I wrote most of their music...they soooo owe me.

I played the flute, the whole band play around that sound.they owe their careers to me.

The Rutles were amazing, maybe, and their music said it all, sort of. Like their 1969 rooftop concert when they played "Get Up and Go" off the album Let It Rot. Or the timeless classic "Piggy In the Middle" from Tragical History Tour. The 5th Rutle was with them in '64 in Amsterdam when their drumer Barry got ill. Was that you Snake? Ouch! is still my favorite album, I think.

Ouch! was originally titled Oh****ThatHurt! but I
thought the name was way too long. "Get Up and Go" was originally "Get up and Get out". I named that one. but got vetoed cuz I vetoed Oh****ThatHurt!

they were really petty.

I dig your Rutles insider stories. Here's the video of "Get Up and Go" as the song came to be released...

What's the word behind "Cheese and Onions"?
