Burbank community announcement.
...................
October 13-14, 2007 (Saturday and Sunday) is "Second Chance Weekend" in Burbank.
Lengthen the life span of the City's landfill... get rid of unneeded houshold items...earn extra cash...have a garage sale!
Sell (recycle!) your used household items and keep them out of the landfill. "Second Chance Weekend" is held as part of a statewide celebration of recycling in the month of October. On this weekend, no garage sale permit is needed and it won't count against the annual number of permitted garage sales for a particular residence.
At times other than "Second Chance Weekend" you can now obtain the necessary (and free) Burbank garage Sale permit on-line. Just go to www.burbankca.org/license and click on the center button "On-Line Garage sale Permits."
For more info contact City of Burbank License and Code Services Division at 818-238-5280.

Wouldn't be normal around here without a negative word on something positive now would it. Yep, you do, but it's free. And it's very easy to get as is working with the City. That's why there's so many garage sales in Burbank on any given weekend.

Oops! I didn't mean to sound mean.. I was surprised to learn that one needed a permit to have a garage sale.
I thought anyone could have one whenever they chose. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

I have to agree with Offbeat... Im not trying to be negative either, but for those of us that never grew up in LA, its pretty bizarre that you need the city's permission for something like that. (but yes, I do understand that its primarily to keep people from running a business out of their garage, etc)
Then again, Glendale isn't much better on stuff.. one of our neighbors has been fighting with the city for over a year because he dares have a 24" tall white picket fence in his yard. Guess I haven't lived out here long enough to see the light yet...
Garage sales definitely are a great way to help conserve resources though (and save money, too!) A few years back I bought 600 unsharpened Prismacolor pencils for 5 bucks. I'll probably have enough pencils for the rest of my life. Would have been a shame to throw that in the garbage.
