I had that situation on Freaky Stories. There were two production execs on the series during the first season, male and female. The young lady, bright as she was (and she was very bright), NEVER got the jokes. The male production exec always had to vouch for them, saying, "It's a guy thing, Jane..."
That became one of the key responses to her notes. Since the show was targeted toward boys, she'd let them pass. On the other hand, there are things that guys just don't twig to. So it's sort of "even".
