DISCLAIMER: These are obviously fake photos. But wouldn't it be cool if mechs existed in real life (not talking about that suit in Aliens, but like those really huge walking suits of armor like in the anime and Mechwarrior games).
I know realistically they probably wouldn't be very cost effective (cause I'd imagine take out one leg and the mech is out, and they'd be expensive to build and maintain), but it'd be interesting to watch these things in action.
Here's a wiki article about mechs in case you have no clue what they are:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mech
I generally like the Eastern (japanese) designed mechs, as stylistically they seem cooler than the western designed mechs (some of which don't even have arms. Not that there's anything wrong with that though), even if it is somewhat unrealistic (be pretty hard for them to fly in real life, but in japanese anime they do it without a hitch most times hehe).
I do like the mech in Matrix Revolutions though (at least the arm/weapon design, although an open cockpit is probably kind of stupid, exposing the pilot to all sorts of shrapnel flying around. No wonder the Sentinels didn't have trouble with them lol).
So, what are you thoughts on this? I suppose Mechs aren't too popular in the west (compared to in Japan for example, where mech anime is pretty common. One of my favorite mech shows is Robotech, or Macross if you want to get really technical hehe), but it's still kind of cool to think of stuff like this, don't you think (and if you don't think that, what is it you're doing here again? )

We gotta start building those. If you had those.. no country in the world would oppose you. Who would fight that? ...seeing THAT come up over the horizon?
