Love is An Angel in Diguise.
That is such a great line in such a great song.
Just think of how it works as a chorus' refrain, sung by
Yo La Tengo. 's song "Deeper into Movies". If you know the band's music, you may know the song. If you don't the band's music, you may be missing something.
The thing is if you know the song "Deeper into Movies" well,..well, then you might wonder what the heck I was thinking that that line is in that song. You see, much to my chagrin the lyric isn't Love is an Angel is Disguise. In fact, there may not be a song or any work of art which contains that line.
The drag is that I didn't figure this out that the lyric doesn't exist for years. The line just burrowed into my noggin and stayed there, shutting out all other noise. So, everytime I listened to the song, regardless of the stereo system I used to listen to it, the lyric stayed the same. Each and everytime I head Georgia , the drummer of YLT, sing that song with the backup vocals for the refrain, whoop! there it was.
It wasn't until I motivated myself to do a rough storyboard for a future animation ** based upon the song that I even realized the lyrics weren't what I thought they were. The above image is part of the boards. I even had angels dancing in the sky.
It is still a cool line. Even if I made it up and Yo La Tengo didn't. Maybe someday, I'll make a painting of the concept....
Now I think I'll pop in that Dylan CD and listen to Mr. Tangerine Man.***
* Georgia is one of the daughters of John and Faith Hubley. So, there's your animation connection.
**(i.e., planning to find the storyboard years later after not making anthing more than a storyboard)
***(ha! just kidding about the Dylan song title. I have good hearing and realize that cleaning out the ears may have prevented my misunderstanding. But, YLT songs sometimes have vocals which blend too well with the music. And, for you amatuer Freudians, I was quite content when I first heard the song. )
