As if Disney couldn't stoop any lower, they're planning to revive 'Aladdin'as a (shudder) live action movie. It's bad enough that they had to have Nick, Jessica, and Clay Aikin butcher their songs on the 'Aladdin' DVD, now this! Disney can walk off a cliff with their CGI crap, tween idol garbage, and live action bastardizations of their animated classics! What's next, A live action 'DuckTales' movie using'Howard The Duck'like costumes? And Hollywood wonders why the box office is in a slump!

The money's in the hands of the wrong people... what can I say?

That said, Pirates Of The Carribean turned out really well. Perhaps this may turn out to be a suprise? The contemporary setting and script might end up being rather different. After all, Aladdin wasn't a Disney story to begin with.

I wouldn't be suprised if this will end up hitting the "tween" market in relation to all those recent teenager-meets-a-prince movies that have saturated the market recently, though.

Gee, this could be interesting. The article doesn't specifically say that this will be a remake of the cartoon. What it does say is:
The movie will be a live action retelling of the story in a contemporary setting.

Contemporary setting? So Aladdin will have to contend with the stuff that's happening out in Arab-land these days, like: Robin Williams saying his time-worn "funny" things about seventy virgins and a mule as the genie appears in a giant dynamite vest, which goes off and extends dozens of little "BANG" signs...

Contemporary setting? My lord, I hope they're not thinking about Bagdad.

Didn't they already try this? Wasn't it called "Kaazaam"?
