Big news: at just about the time we'll all have worn out our Iron Giant special edition DVDs, Lil' Pimp will be released on DVD.
There's a little blurb in Variety about it. Apparently Lions Gate picked up the title from Revolution. The article decribles a $10 million film budget. Lions Gate is going to use a web-based marketing approach, and put it out in mid January. Maybe they're going to capitalize on William Shatner's career resurgence in their marketing.
I have some friends who worked on it, but out of respect for them I won't mention their names.

I know of one person I've met before that worked on Lil Pimp, who was fired for having an opinion about the direction of things.
I know it's animation (and I'm curious to see it because it is all Flash-done), but is this a film we should support, considering their practices on opinions and treating talent?

seriously, though. i worked on that movie. when i think now about what i was flipping out over then, it doesn't seem all that bad ... but the more i reflect on it, the more i think that the force of time has blasted away all the debris from the experience so that it seems a beautiful thing instead of an ugly one. if i meditate on it, though, i end up walking the same path i walked while i was there ...
bone, i can't answer your question seriously, since i'm gonna buy it jus CUZ, hehe .. but here are some thoughts ... if you dig lo-fi you'll probably like the aesthetic, and if you like that "offend everyone" kind of humor you may laugh.if flash animation intrests you, check it out, you can see some cool techniques. you also get to see a bunch of different styles since animators had scenes instead of sequences. it supports the studio system, so you help the weak remain in power by perpetuating the myth that THEY are the strong ... which is a bummer. so uh, make your decisions accordingly!

The humor wasnt really to my taste, (ahem, understatement) but theres probably enough stuff in there to be interesting for folks wanting to learn more about flash.
I saw the final cut of the film recently... the word CUT is important here, because there was PLENTY of stuff cut out of this version. Sad too, because there was some nice work in there... action sequences, hybrid 3D work, the whole classroom music montage with @15 characters dancing which was actually kind of fun and was pretty well done.... hell, they even cut out "THE SWISS". You could honestly say they made about 3 films worth of material... in the short time I was there (Ill admit it) I guess I worked on the "second version".
Definitely plenty of talented artists on the crew, and a fun group to be sure, but ultimately, the film itself could have been SO much more.....
