NY commerical director J.J. Sedelmaier informs us that this Sunday, February 8, there will be a segment on CBS News Sunday Morning (9 am EST/7 am PST) about the "2D/3D animation struggle." Sedelmaier was interviewed for the piece, as was Gary Baseman, somebody from Pixar, and other folks as well.

Well hell, of course 2D isn't dead. (It's just pining for the fjords, ahr ahr.) The whole mass dedication to 3D/CGI stuff is another way of shifting control to the execs -- when you have all the information on your company's characters (that is, "properties') on hard drive, you can move them around and put them in anything you wish. But after a few "Sinbad"-like duds in 3D (the Sharkslayer/Sharkhunter thing looks like prime dud material), 2D might not seem so dead after all.
