After the discussion about selling artwork to raise money I started searching ebay to see what their policy was and I found this:
http://pages.ebay.com/catindex/auctionforamerica.html?ssPageName=HAFA01

If I am correct then these auctions are paid to ebay and not to the seller. The money is then forwarded for disaster relief in New York. They are trying to collect 100 million in 100 days. If you have items you would like to sell or even like to purchase I am sure they would be welcome. What you should know as well on a sad note. Talk has begun today that seems to be pointing towards the victims families of WTC to be excluded from any insurance relief. If this is true then I think it is something we should discuss.

I read that since the tradegy is an act of war or considered a military action, life, car, property insurance companies are not libel. Supposedly, it's an exception built into most polices. It's going to be a call by the insurance companies on whether they honor insurance claims.

I have read so many mis-statements, mis-quotes, and mis-leading information, that I would wait until there are proven facts.

There have been reports of scams and cons already in place asking for donations, one claiming to be for the families of firefighters. There also has been looting of the evacuated buildings, theives posing as police and firefighters to gain access to the sealed off area and carting off all they can carry.

The vultures are circling.

for the families of fallen firefighters isnt

I hope not, I've sent that page to a great
number of people.

The scam I had read about was a phone con, someone calling claiming to represent a bogus firefighter fund.
