KING KONG is my favorite movie, and I'm just itching to see Peter Jackson's take on this classic. I'm sure there are many of you who feel the same way.
In the meantime, for those here who play videogames (or who has gaming offspring), the latest issue of PLAYSTATION magazine includes a playable demo of the upcoming KING KONG game.
Kirby and I played it tonight, and if the samples are any indication, this will be a terrific game, with a ton of intense Kong-vs.-dinosaur battling. (I normally detest fighting games, but this is a lot of fun -- even more than GODZILLA: DESTROY ALL MONSTERS and WAR OF THE MONSTERS, both previous favorites of ours.) The dinosaur designs are particularly good, although I'm still getting used to Peter Jackson's snaggle-toothed, scar-faced King Kong. And the critters move as if they had real weight to 'em. Kong also does some interesting moves that we've never seen him do before, such as swinging from stone precipice to stone precipice. Surprisingly, it works!
When Kong wins, he does that reverse-nutcracker bit with his reptilian foe's jaws, complete with wince-inducing sound effect! There's also a first-person shooter level in which you -- as Jack Driscoll -- have to bring down a charging T. rex with a finite amount of ammo -- or become instant dino fodder!
I noticed that TV spots for the KING KONG game are beginning to appear, with lots of tantalizing scenes.
If the video game looks this good, I think it bodes very well for the actual movie!
Aloha,
Scott!

I got to play the XBox 360 version of the game. It was incredible. SO much better than the PS2 version, even though they are the same game.
Well done!

i found that I lost the feeling of believability when the t-rex or the raptor kept passing through Kong every now and again. That was a bit kooky. Looks brilliant though , nice work.

I'd rent Narnia first. One of the magazines gave it the lowest score out of all the games they reviewed for November - something like a 4.5 out of 10.
