A quick note on my entry; it's an illustration based on the fairy tale "Rumpelstiltsken" .. just in case it wasn't obvious. Guess it could've used a caption, at that.
Nifty pix from all!

Well, I guess I'll join in ,too. I know mine isn't tailor-made to the subject, so I'll explian my reasoning. I just figured I'd consider this topic open enough to include "corporate identity" or logo-type work. So I touched up my company logo and entered it. I know it's not as ideally suited to the theme as the others, but I like being able to enter works I've spent more time on.
By the way, I got some good laughs out of all the entries this time around. They're all good, too.
And Droosan, your Rumpelstiltsken theme was obvious to me, and quite well-chosen.
Squarejaw, if you ever do get the pencil version scanned in, put it in the gallery for us as you mentioned, eh? I like seing the development of a piece.

The secret is a slab of pine, which I scanned to use as a backdrop (mostly because I couldn't find any parchment paper handy). I did a haphazard P

.. Photoshop paint job, which I tweaked to a sepia tone, and a smattering of filters; "pointillize" and "facet" in particular.
Thanks for the compliment! Your entry is very striking, as well (I particularly like the guy's shirt) .. and the progression in the Gallery is pretty cool.

Hey, Squarejaw, thanks! That's hilarious; my name is even on the topic heading. I think it's a great idea to scan your art in various stages; you think like a teacher. Nice piece with a strong sense of style!

Congratulations to you, Olve!
Have to admit, I voted for you, as well.
That's a fun painting .. I especially liked 'you-know-who's' shoulder bag.
Who knows, this might have actually happened at a hotel hosting a STAR WARS convention somewhere.

Good contest, everybody!

Droosan, you came in second with 11 votes behind Olve's 15. BobW came in third.
I must admit, I have a hard time voting for just one entry. I'd like to see 2 votes per contest.

Had a blast finally getting an entry out of the 'sketch' stage and into a contest (even though the whole thing was cobbled together on the final Sunday, and e-mailed at the literal 'eleventh hour') ..
And hey, I actually can enter the next one .. so coming in second has its rewards, too, I guess.

For the interested, here's some of the names the queen has crossed off her list in the "Rumpelstiltsken" illo:
Baba Louie Beauregarde (aka the 'faithful hound' in Pogo) Bullwinkle Gilligan Quixote Shazam Tackleberry Van Pelt Weatherbee
and the name the Queen is currently crossing out is Throckmorton (as in "P. Gildersleeve") ..
