For cryin' out loud, there's terrorists trying to acquire nuclear materials to attack the U.S. and Israel, major earthquakes in the Asian seas, kids with autism rising faster than kids with fat problems and the news is spent on OJ Simpson's F Troop like attempt at re-acquiring some old sports memorabilia.

While I understand that more eyeballs watching means more money from accompanying ads, it's still a shame that celebrity news is one of the things that garners the most attention. Sure, people are interested, but even the most reputable news sources help perpetuate this crap.
The human species has been on a steady course towards entropy since inception, and the antics of Britney, Paris, and the ilk, are constantly in the headlines. Perhaps that's why.
this O.J. fiasco will get tons of airtime, while most people will probably never hear of this fellow:

I can't even enjoy those old Naked Gun movies anymore because of O.J..

That's a great story and link there Bees.
Sure he made himself by selling hooch but look at the massive amount he gave away to charity.
America does that to a guy. You get so much you gotta give some away.
Unfortunately too many people take that kidness for weakness.

People can't get enough of OJ's suffering because he hasn't suffured enough. When the murdering varmint spends the rest of his life in prison or meets his maker, then maybe there'll be some closure to the never ending saga of poor ol' OJ Simpson.

I love NPR, and the News Hour. This story is almost non-existent there. News has to do with the world and how it affects me. O.J. Simpson is pretty damn to close to meaningless as it gets.
Air flow patterns over discarded bazooka gum on the sidewalk of 54th street between the dates of May 9 and June 26 1964 New York is probably a more relevant topic. Or hey, how about the hot topic of the design of the wrapping of Wienerschnitzel hotdogs in the summer of 1983 in New England states?
What about the color of my underwear when me and my brother got naked at 3 and 4, and danced on the living room table eating raw hotdogs in front of guests? Clearly, that's just as important.
