Right handed or left handed? Which side do you primarily use to create with?
We'll keep the poll open for a couple of weeks until January 23.

Hey Bronnie, thanks for the link. I covered a little of that at the beginning of the school year, but that expands big time on the language connections, like sinister being latin for left, etc.

By the way, when my Dad was growing up (1930s), his teachers used to smack his hand with the edge of a ruler if they caught him writing with his left hand. So he had to train himself to write, unnaturally, with his right hand.
Those backward canucks!

My Dad has the same story that he was originally left handed and got smacked. They felt it was critical because of fountian pens and smudging that would happen if you were a lefty. BTW He has the neatest hand-writng of any man, woman or child I've ever seen.

I'm left-handed but write with my right. Same story, I got smacked when caught writing with my left. That was in the early seventies when I was six and my teacher was close to retiring age. For an artist I have terrible handwriting and when it comes to typography I can't relate.

Speaking of Canucks, BobV-- I was a kid in T.O. in the early 60's,and I guess my school had gotten past the left hand stigma by then. The student the teachers praised the most, whose work was the best and whose handwriting was by far the neatest, was a lefty. It got to the point where some of the kids started trying to write left handed so they could be like Jane.It did't work. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

In the excitement of last week's events, I neglected to attend to the results of this poll.
Of the 38 participants:
Right handed - 76% (29) Left handed - 24% (9)
I suppose those results would be somewhat comparable to the ratio in society in general.
Thanks to all who checked in for this survey.
