Disney's Enchanted The hand-drawn animation is looking particularly sumptuous.
And since no one mentioned it, there's another trailer for Dreamworks' Bee Movie out.

I'm excited about this movie if for no other reason than the fact it's in 2D.
I've already heard a fair number of complaints about the film, but I still say, cut Disney some slack. They're still recovering from a very dark, dark period, and it's gonna take some time to find their way back.
Plus, it's got animation from James Baxter's studio. That alone makes it worth the price of admission. "The Enchanted" and The Frog (Whatever they're calling it now) is a positive sign for the future.
Personally, I'm a little tired of the digital puppets. I'm looking forward to seeing drawings live on screen again. With the right leadership, another golden age could be right around the corner.

That's the spirit! I too am totally looking forward to a hand drawn animation feature. It's long overdue.

Solid.
just thought I'd say it again since I seem to like that word....and it reminds me of Link from Mod Squad.
I like the dragon design....very eternal chinese mixed with Malificent.
So, if Malificent's Mom and Dad had named her Trixie...would things have happened different in Sleeping Beauty? Solid.

Keep trying, Greg B. It took me several tries to get the trailer to even start downloading; and a couple more tries before I was able to watch the whole thing (it kept 'freezing' about halfway through, and I'd have to refresh & start over again).
This site looks to be the only source for the trailer, at this point; it's not even available on Apple's Quicktime trailer site, yet.
----------
Enchanted looks like fun! I wish more of it was 'animated', though.

How good it will be depends entirely on the direction they approach the subject material with. The best way to do it isn't from the "nudge-nudge, wink-wink" view of "aren't we clever laughing at such silly things." It's from an actual respect from the original material, as an insider's view is more likely to produce authentic results.
Those wishing proof of this are directed towards seeing the recent film "Hot Fuzz," which is one of the best action comedies of the past decade. (Even if you don't need the lesson, see it anyway. )

That's funny, I can still download it. If you try the lower res versions, (which still look perfectly fine) you're probably more likely to get it. Other than that, you'll probably find it on youtube.

It's also here: http://www.freewebs.com/bugmenot234/T.htm
The 2D animation segment looks good. The movie as a whole looks to be an unpleasant thing. It covers the same ground as the 1980s sitcom THE CHARMINGS, only with a big budget. This is the kind of film best seen on TV years after it's released, hardly paying attention, with the sound mercifully off, just looking up whenever a monster or something animated is on screen.

Oh, come now. It's meant to be watched with a tub of popcorn and a soda and your girl/guy with you on a saturday afternoon.
Or better still with your relatives young and old at Thanksgiving.
The question going forward with such movies is...are they shot like movies or TV shows. I think Lima deserves a chance to impress us.
Plus Paige O'Hara is in it and Susan Sarandon never looked hotter. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

Ah, I guess I'm just not in the mood for it. Maybe that mood will come around again some day. These days I'm usually into much grimmer entertainment. It makes me laugh!

I said this elsewhere... I feel like this is the wrong kind of film to put out after just promising to "move forward" with Meet the Robinsons.
The trailer makes the film look like Disney is still bitter about Shrek's success because it's basically a live action version of the same mold. Even though the animated portions are nice, chances are the film is 80% live action, and the 80% live action will be horrible.
It just doesn't make much sense, to me, to be releasing this before The Frog Princess because the film is basically saying princess movies shouldn't be taken seriously anymore, which is a really odd message to be sending.

Man, I've been down this road before.
I remember 1993 when everybody had solid reasons why "The Lion King" was going to be an animated disaster.
Nobody knows anything.

Well since this movie is 'trailer challenged' meaning either links don't work, were up but now down, too slow etc.
I can only assume it's a combination of live action and animation and it's a spoof on the Disney Princess flicks?
It looked interesting til it got to the 'dad and girl without a mother' thing. It was like those Friday night tv shows on ABC in the 70's where each show had a dead parent thing going on.
It looks funny as heck and hopefully will be a hit.
At first glance at the animation I was reminded of the Mr. Moviefone Cinderella take off that still shows in theatres to big laughs even to this day.
Now THAT is something I'd like a clip of.

Don't make me gag! The Underdog movie? I saw the trailer. I wouldn't watch that crap if you tied my girlfriend to the railroad tracks.
Gad, they've gone and ruined another American Icon.
Next they'll do a live action Felix the Cat starring a cow who thinks he's a cat because her farmer owner is taking a psychology course and hypnotizes the farm animals.

I didn't say it was going to be a disaster, I just said it was sending the wrong message being treated as a major release and might have been a better fit on DVD or the Disney Channel, where it can still be successful without mixed signals. Unless the budget on the film is too large, in which case I retract that.
I'm not making a final judgement either way but the trailer definitely struck me as a bizarre statement.

it looks like a pop-corn flick that i think most families could get into. i know i wouldn't be into it, but whatever. i've read online elsewhere that some people think the animation looks "mediocre" to which i just flat out disagree. i think the animation looks first rate and highly polished. you would expect nothing less from james baxter.
though it does seem strange that disney is poking fun at itself and at the same time making "the frog princess." hah.

greg b. I hear ya, I'd rather pour salt directly in my eyes than go see the flick - but I still want to see the new trailer because there are supposedly scenes of him talking in it. I want to see if they've imitated the voice of Underdog. They should just go ahead and let Jim Belushi voice the dog. Ha!
Another classic (not) by legendary director Fred Doo chau. I'm sure this will be "bigger than 'Independence Day'", just as he predicted "Quest for Camelot" would be!

Knowledge, Jason Lee does the voice of Underdog. He also did the great job as Syndrome in "The Incredibles". But even Lee won't be able to save this dog of an "Underdog" movie. We need a thread so we can bash "Underdog".
As for "Enchanted" I think it might well be a bigger surprise hit than we might expect. Reason for it is the wee bit of trailer I've seen actually stuck with me during the day. Made me want to see more.

Thanks for the trailer link Animagus.
I will be the first person in line when this movie opens.
I was on the floor rolling with laughter at the trailer. It's just what the doctor ordered. I was aching to see the expanded Moviefone Cinderella toon and this movie looks just like it.
Problem is I can't wait til Thanksgiving. That's torture.

Let me guess, Eric: YOU are working on the picture? It looks like some of the live action was shot during the Summer of 2006, since a billboard advertising "Superman Returns" is visible in one of the shots. Speaking of Superman, the shot of the manhole cover flying into the Times Square "Coca Cola" sign reminds me of what happened to General Zod in Superman II. Remember that fight scene?

I'd like to be positive, but my first impressions are more in line with FP and Matt. People are often negative about something they've never seen before. My problem is I've SEEN all this before. The 2D animation, in the supporting role it has, does look good. Surprised no one's mentioned Monkeybone yet.
