Gary Montalbano has been a pretty big part of my personal history. He
influenced my art and design early in my career. His attitude as well as his artistic skill set has always set high bars. His humility and grace show when you meet him in person but it's also reflected in his art. We're honored to have him as our guest this Tuesday and I'm excited that we're promoting his first self published book!!! It's been a long time coming.
Also, I'm pleased to announce another event at my gallery, www.petragallerie.com here in Los Angeles on October 30th. Tron De Los Muertos is an exhibition of us creative glowing souls. Art, live music, dj, taco catering, gifts and more. Check our link, petragallerie.com, or if you're on facebook go to facebook.com Open to the public, 21 and over please.

Being extremely busy is OK, but sometimes I have to step back from the animated stage called life and try to remember to not take the daily thrashing too seriously. I need to also keep in mind that everything is a metaphor. For example, if someone asks me, "What color is the sky?" I would say, "It appears to be blue in my tunnel of reality." Or if they asked "Who is that person in the car cutting you off?" I'd say, "It appears to be a reckless jerk." Even if you ask, "What makes the sky blue?" or "What makes the earth mostly round?", you would end up arriving at another metaphor. Essentially we are each choosing our own metaphors to shape a custom tunnel and taking detours through separate realities, but ultimately there is no detour and no "construction" going on. What we view as reality is only happening in our mind as far as we are concerned.
When you say something IS something, you are placing your personal metaphor onto it. Maybe one of these days we need realize that IS is not true because nothing IS anything. The sky is not any color. It's not anything we can ultimately say, because we can only use our own gilded cage of extremely restricted linguistic constructs to describe and explain reality. My "reality" and reality's reality are two completely different realities that may never be aware of each other even though they exist in the same place at the same time.
Whatever tunnel you're in at the moment, is ultimately just another loop of the same tunneling process that everyone is traveling through. But I suppose we all have to stick with our own tunnels for now. Hmm, this makes me think of the movie Donnie Darko.
Maybe as an experiment we should exit our tunnels for one night, meet up in Burbank, and look at our reality tunnels from the outside, but that means to "forget" everything we know... no languages, no dogmatic statements, no imposing semantics, no philosophies, no religions, no psychologies, no something, no nothing.... no IS.
So come join us at a tunnel free AN Night where we can enjoy some amazing art, conversations and people.
