A.N. Night - August 31th

Hi everyone and welcome.

I'm very happy to announce that my good friend Richard Chavez will be our very special guest at the next AnimationNation Night in Burbank on September 28, 2010.

Richard is a truly remarkable "A" list talent in animation. One of the leading visual development and production designers in the modern animation industry. His career spans from the early 1980s when he was with Hallmark Cards to the mid 80s when he was designing some of the most memorable cartoons ever produced for TV, to Disney Features, to being one of the original founding artists of DreamWorks Feature Animation to Visual Development Supervisor at Sony, and is currently developing story for new independent projects on the way.

Mulan, Prince of Egypt, Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron, Sinbad Legend of the Seven Seas, Open Season, Surf's Up, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs... not to mention all the projects he worked on in TV prior to feature films.

Don't miss this chance to meet and interact with Richard Chavez! Mr. Chavez does not make many appearances, ladies and gents. This is a very rare opportunity to meet one of the greatest artists working in animation today.

Please note that no video of this part of the event will be permitted.

Going to A.N. Night is like going to the most bad ass Dojo in all the Kung Fu land. No matter how much you practice, no matter how far you run or how hard you hit, you bring your skills to this event and you eat humble pie that tastes like the sole of some artists shoe. Jab, cross, hook, your ego is done. Once you decide to get up and dust yourself off, you receive a kick to the cranium, crushing any idea that you might of had left of how good you think you really are at this art stuff. By round three you wish you had more oatmeal and that you got up extra early to run farther, to push your stamina harder to prepare more efficiently for this very moment. Your self confidence gives you one more burst of energy to get to the bell but your ass is already nailed to the floor. You're done, but you just didn't know it yet. Now you're ready to let go and watch a true master move and share his secrets. After this challenge you find yourself silenced by the greatness before you. But because of this surrender the discovery of true enlightenment is close to your grasp...but not yet. Maybe you should come back and practice more.

Yeah, thats what A.N. Night is like and Sensei Chavez is gonna show you some HiYA!!!

Also, Get some more secrets of the tiger palm technique shared by Master Montalbano at Petra Gallerie where you can pick up his latest book, Memories Within Dreams, and get it signed! Check the link for details. Music by Shaft 9000! Find us on Facebook.

See ya there!

Mista' Bite

Einstein said, "Everything changes except the way people think about it." Maybe what he meant was that we hold on to images of ourselves, of the world or of everything that don't exist anymore. Maybe these stagnant images were somewhat appropriate in the context of a moment from the distant past, but as more time goes by these past time images deepen or get solidified and become illusions and false identities.

Do we really know ourselves or do we need to time travel to the future which is now and experience ourselves in the present time? The images we hold on to from the past must be discarded, dissolved, and the process should be renewed all the time. What would it be like to wake up every day with a clean philosophical, psychological or mental slate and ask the same questions again. Would you get the same answers? We are also ultimately unaware of the polymorphic facilities of our structure because we can only see ourselves from a very small perspective in time.

Anyway, a part of our philosophy at AN is that we have to always be open to new ideas, perceptions and states of mind because hopefully these are the things that all of us as creators will continue to experience on a daily basis.

So come join us this Tuesday with the awesome Richard Chavez for some mind expansions and telescopic thought resolutions of non space time points of view.
