The animated medium is at its best when utilized to communicate a message that can help improve our lives and change society for the better.
Such is the case with "A Dangerous Journey" by London based Animage Films. Partly funded by Comic Relief, the video warns young African women of the dangers of being coerced and tricked into prostitution. Narrated by two survivors of sex trafficking, A Dangerous Journey depicts the harrowing trauma young girls experience and describes the various techniques of coercion used by traffickers, which include Juju scare tactics perpetrated by native doctors as well as compelling but empty promises for a better life made by trusted individuals in the girls' lives.
Animage Films is an award-winning production company, which in the past seven years has created a growing body of work exposing the magnitude of what are essentially global hate crimes against women and girls. Their films strive to inform, educate and alert potential victims as well as media and the public in general. Previous campaigns such as Eva Goes to Foreign and Two Little Girls achieved significant results and won multiple awards.
